iPad Pro update – Goodbye laptop!

So, when I first purchased the iPad Pro, my bro-in-law bet me that in six months time the iPad Pro will be eating dust like my kindle Paperwhite and all my other techy gadgets. And boy did I prove him wrong.

My trusty iPad Pro is now my main device for watching Netflix, reading and blogging.

In fact, I’m using my iPad Pro so much that Po commented I spend more time with the iPad than her…which is 100% true but I will vehemently deny it, no matter who asks.

With the help from additional accessories, my laptop has gone into retirement since the iPad Pro has replaced most of it’s function. To be honest – I mainly use my laptop to watch Netflix and web surfing since it wasn’t powerful enough to run most serious things without sounding like a turbine engine.

But hey, that’s what I have the PC for right? Since the applications I use for work are not Mac-friendly anyway (Damn you ArcGIS!).

Without further ado, here are the 5 iPad accessories I can’t live without.

Stylus – Apple Pencil

A must if you love journalling or drawing. My handwriting is atrocious, but I’m blaming it on iPad’s slippery glass surface.

It has become even more useful since the iPadOS 14 update- I love the scribble function and its ability to recognise my writing whether I write in English, Chinese or both! Needless to say I’m thoroughly impressed .

Case – Zugu 2018 iPad Pro 11-inch Case

The Zugu case provides all round protection and a handy Apple Pencil dock both on top and on the back of the case. The elevated edges protects the screen even if you drop it face first (which I have multiple times… butterfingers!) It also has 8 viewing angles which I found very useful for reading, drawing and note taking

USB Hub – OWC USB-C Travel Dock

The OWC USB-C Travel Dock is an awesome compact dock that is versatile with multiple ports and pass through power port. I’m writing a blog post on it at the moment so will link to that soon…ish, depending on my procrastination level.

Bluetooth Keyboard – Keychron K4 LK Optical Red Mechanical Keyboard

It used to be Akko 3068 bluetooth keyboard but I found the bluetooth lag distracting and frustrating. So for my birthday I coerced Po to put in towards my Keychron K4 keyboard instead.

There’s no Bluetooth lag (so far) plus it’s seamless to switch between my PC, work laptop and iPad Pro. With the additional option of switch between MacOS and WindowOS layout.

Mouse – Logitech 2s Anywhere

I originally bought the mouse for my PC/laptop, but since it is capable of connecting to 3 devices I hooked it up to my iPad every now and then.Yes I know the mouse support is not perfect on the iPad – but with each OS update it’s improving!

Conclusion

The iPad Pro is great for entertainment, organising my life, and the occasional blogging that I do. It has completely replaced my laptop, which I haven’t touched for over least 6 months.

And my Kindle Paperwhite?? Yeah, it’s still eating dust on the coffee table.
