I bought an iPad Pro! (Part 2)

TLDR (Too Long, Didn’t Read)
Moral of the story – If you are buying Apple Certified Refurbished iPads – Please just activate it in-store just in case it wasn’t refurbished properly. Don’t be me.

Friday:
10.05am – Glided into the Apple store with a beaming smile and flashed myself my phone order at the Apple guy. Feeling like a Boss.

10.20am – The shiny refurbished iPad Pro 11″ was in my hot little hands. I unwrapped it gently and adored the shiny.

10.21am – Was asked if I wanted to setup in-store. Declined because I’m weird about public wifi.

11.00am – Arrived back at work, hooked it up to my mobile hotspot and started setting up.

11.03am – *Error*

11.03-11.05amBreakdown.

11.06am – Regained composure and called Apple Support. Was recommended to factory reset via iTunes.

11.07am – Realised the cable is USB-C to USB-C so I can’t hook it up to the work computer. Cries internally.

So as soon as I sped home from work, I downloaded iTunes on laptop and called Apple Support again. The lovely lady walked me through how to factory reset my iPad.

Excerpt of the conversation below –

Apple Support Lady: “Hold the power button & the home button…”

Me: “….Mine doesn’t have a home button?”

Apple Support Lady: “Oh uh okay, while holding power button, quickly tap the volume…”

*15 seconds silence*

Me: “Hello?!?!”

Apple Support Lady: “Sorry, let’s start again. tap the volume up button and volume down button then hold the power button until you see the Apple Logo, but keep holding it until the plug screen comes up.

End result – *Error*

Unfortunately, despite the factory reset the same error screenshot was still there. So off to the Genius bar I went the next day.

Apple Genius: “Hmmmm this is the first time I’ve seen this, let me chat to my manager”

Manager comes out and confirms he’s never seen the error before and unfortunately my iPad need to be sent away.

Me:

Manager then whips out a BRAND NEWiPad Pro as my replacement.

Also Me:

So I’ve somehow gone from a faulty refurb to brand new iPad Pro in 24hrs! That’s Apple Service for ya!

Now I’m typing up this blog on my iPad Pro and loving life.
